About Rise Gippsland Support Services

Rise Gippsland Support Services provides personalised, community-based support designed around each person’s individual needs, choices and goals.
We believe meaningful support begins with listening, building trust and recognising each person’s strengths. Our approach is flexible, respectful and focused on helping people increase their independence, build confidence and participate in the life and community they choose.
Throughout my career, one thing has remained constant—I love seeing people achieve goals they never thought were possible. Whether it’s gaining confidence, finding employment, learning a new skill, increasing independence or simply feeling connected within their community, those moments are what make this work so rewarding.
Over the years, I’ve had the privilege of supporting people from all walks of life. Every person I’ve worked alongside has shown incredible strength, resilience and determination. Their stories have inspired me just as much as I hope I’ve supported them.
Like many people, I once took simple everyday tasks for granted—driving a car, hearing a conversation, walking independently, finding employment or completing personal care without assistance. Working in the disability sector, and through my own family’s experiences, has completely changed that perspective.
In 2019, our daughter was born with Congenital Cytomegalovirus (CMV). She spent time in intensive care as a newborn while receiving treatment, and over the following years we experienced the challenges that came with progressive hearing loss.
As a family, we learnt Auslan together so we could communicate effectively and ensure she always felt included. In 2022, after careful consideration, we made the significant decision for her to undergo bilateral cochlear implant surgery. It was a journey filled with difficult decisions, uncertainty and hope, but one that gave us a deeper understanding of the challenges many families face when navigating disability, health services and advocacy.
Our family’s journey continued when my beautiful niece was born with a rare chromosomal condition, resulting in developmental delays affecting her mobility, speech and overall development. Watching both children grow has reinforced that every milestone—no matter how small it may seem to others—is something worth celebrating.
Alongside these experiences, mental health has also shaped my life. I have experienced the devastating loss of both my grandfather and, later, my father to suicide after their own struggles with mental illness. Those losses have given me a profound appreciation of the importance of compassion, connection, early support and simply being present for people during difficult times.
These experiences don’t define who I am—but they have shaped the way I support others.
After spending many years working within large organisations across employment services, youth services, residential care and disability support, I realised I wanted to do things differently. I wanted to create a service where participants are never treated as a number, where genuine relationships come first, and where supports are tailored to the individual—not the system.
That vision became Rise Gippsland Support Services.
Today, Rise is built on the values of respect, compassion, honesty, dignity and choice.
My goal is to provide supports that empower people to build confidence, develop independence, achieve their goals and live the life they choose.
For me, this isn’t just a business.
It’s a commitment to standing beside people, believing in their potential, and helping them rise.
Meet Nathan

Hi, I’m Nathan, Founder of Rise Gippsland Support Services.
Supporting people isn’t just my career—it’s something I’ve dedicated more than 10 years of my life to.
My journey began in the employment sector, where I worked alongside people receiving income support to help them build confidence, develop skills and secure meaningful employment. From there, I transitioned into disability employment services, assisting people living with disability to achieve their employment goals and become more independent.
As my passion for supporting others continued to grow, I moved into the youth sector and later residential care, working with young people who had entered the out-of-home care system. Many of these young people had experienced significant trauma, family breakdown, substance misuse, domestic violence or parental imprisonment. During this time, I learnt the importance of patience, consistency, advocacy and building trusting relationships with people during some of the most challenging periods of their lives.
These experiences inspired me to broaden my impact and support people of all ages facing a wide range of life challenges. That journey led me into the disability sector, where I have spent several years providing individualised supports to participants with diverse needs and goals. To continue strengthening my knowledge and practice, I am currently studying a Certificate IV in Mental Health.
Throughout my career, I’ve had the privilege of supporting people living with intellectual, cognitive, neurological, psychosocial, sensory and physical disabilities. Every person has their own story, strengths and aspirations, and I believe support should always be tailored to the individual—not the other way around.
My background across employment, youth work, residential care and disability support allows me to look beyond day-to-day assistance. Whether someone is working towards employment, further education, increased independence, community participation, travel, sport or simply building confidence in everyday life, I enjoy helping people identify opportunities and connect with the right supports to achieve their goals.
In 2026, I established Rise Gippsland Support Services with one simple vision:
To provide genuine, person-centred support where people are treated with dignity, respect and compassion—not as just another number.
As an independent provider, I take the time to truly get to know each participant, understand what matters most to them and provide flexible supports that reflect their choices, goals and lifestyle.
I believe the best outcomes come from building genuine relationships based on trust, honesty and consistency.
At Rise Gippsland Support Services, you’re not simply accessing a service—you’ll have someone walking alongside you, celebrating your achievements and supporting you every step of the way.
